Onyx Crisologo wants to require dashcams in all PUVs, gov’t vehicles
Quezon City Rep. Onyx Crisologo has filed a measure requiring all owners of public utility vehicles (PUVs) and government service vehicles to install dashboard video cameras.
Under House Bill 3411, government agencies and PUV operators will be required to submit footage from dashcams to law enforcement agencies which request it for investigation.
However, any data from the dashcam cannot be obtained or copied without the consent of the registered vehicle’s owner.
Crisologo said dashcams will help record vehicular accidents, pilferage and other crimes that occur on the road. It will also promote discipline among motorists, he added.
“Alam naman natin na may mga sasakyan ng gobyerno na ginagamit sa pang-personal na activities, kaya para magkaroon ng disiplina, kailangan talagang maglagay ng camera sa mga dashboard,” the lawmaker said.
