The City Government of Navotas released P2.8 million for the one-time special risk allowance (SRA) of city public health workers who are on the frontline of the city’s fight against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Some 428 city employees, 187 from the City Health Office and 241 from the Navotas City Hospital, received their SRA.

Of these numbers, 152 are regular workers; 268, under contract of service and job order; five, part-time physicians; two, emergency doctors; and one, a pay-per-visit doctor.

“We are very grateful that our medical and health care providers are dedicated and resilient. They have been tirelessly working, providing earnest care and service for the past six months,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

“We value the sacrifices they make for our fellow Navoteños. We hope the SRA will help boost their morale and give them renewed strength as we continue to combat this health crisis,” he added.

Last May, City Ordinance No. 2020-20 granted public health workers in Navotas who are in direct contact with suspected, probable and positive COVID-19 patients additional pay equivalent to a maximum of 25 percent of their monthly salary.
