Manila’s drive-thru COVID-19 testing center at the Quirino Grandstand continues to attract people, with 673 individuals getting tested on Monday, July 20.

Data from the Manila Health Department (MHD) showed 586 of those who got tested only wanted “peace of mind.” Only 46 reported that they were exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 case, while 12 said they had COVID-19 symptoms.

With two drive thru testing sites, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno hopes to accommodate as many as possible in line with their mass testing efforts. He said tests can be availed for free by both Manilans and non-Manilans. Only a valid ID is required to get tested.

“We wanted to approach this in an inclusive manner because COVID-19 is a universal problem. We want to open our boundaries and approach this universally,” Moreno said.

More walk-in testing centers will be opened in the following hospitals: Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Tondo, Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital and Ospital ng Maynila.
