Toby Tiangco reminds Navotas on day one of lockdown: It’s for your own good

Toby Tiangco has had to take extreme measures to control the spread of the coronavirus in Navotas, and it’s off to a rocky start on day one.

The mayor had to slap a two-week ECQ-like lockdown in the city after a wild surge in cases, which started July 16. The strict curfews, especially for children, proved hard to implement.

On the first day alone, authorities rounded up 349 violators who did not wear face masks, broke the ban on minors stepping out of the house, and the lack of social distancing.
