A legitimately free media would not exist under President Rodrigo Duterte’s watch, this politiko said.

Former Akbayan Rep. Tom Villarin blasted the administration anew for the denial of ABS-CBN’s franchise, saying the President would never let dissent prevail.

“Duterte’s infamous quote to media that ‘you are not exempted from assassination’ foretold ABS-CBN fate. If not killed, media is silenced & becomes subservient,” Villarin said, perfectly explaining how the supposed “chilling effect” of the network shutdown translates to people.
