Sa bahay lang toma! Abby Binay bans liquor consumption inpublic

Makati Mayor Abby Binay has ordered a ban on liquor consumption in public places since the city is still under a public health emergency due to COVID-19.

The Makati City Council recently approved City Ordinance No. 2020-152, which limits drinking alcohol to one’s home. Consuming liquor is also banned at the store where it was bought.

Those staying at hotels, motels, apartments, apartelles, bed and breakfast, transient houses, dormitories and bed spaces can only consume liquor inside their rooms.

First time violators will be fined P5,000. Those caught violating the ordinance for the second time face imprisonment of up to one month in addition to paying a P5,000 fine. Subsequent violations will be punished with a P5,000 fine and a possible one-year jail time.

Binay warned that the city government will crack down on business establishments that will violate the ordinance, with the manager and owner also being held liable for any offense.
