Vico Sotto to buy P1.3B worth of gadgets for Pasig public schools

The new normal has proven to be costly, but Vico Sotto wants the money spent the right way.

The Pasig mayor is seeing through his promise to provide tablets and laptops so students and teachers can continue classes even through virtual means under the new normal.

Just after celebrating his first year in office, the millennial politiko mounted a pre-bid conference to invite suppliers to join in the city’s search for good but affordable gadgets for public schools in the city.

“Sa mga bidders: Alam kong malaking pera ang halos 1.3 billion pesos. We guarantee our transparency & fairness,” Sotto said, adding that there will be an official bid bulletin to be released to detail the specs of each item.

His other claim to fame is that companies taking part in Pasig’s biddings have “multiplied” since 2019. “Because they know if they bid in Pasig, they have a chance of winning,” he added, promising no kind of rigging anymore.
