Think before you click! Onyx Crisologo wants responsible internet use included in curriculum
Quezon City Rep. Onyx Crisologo has proposed including responsible internet use in the curriculum of grade school and high school students so they will be midnful of what they consume online.
Crisologo filed House Bill No. 6634 mandating all public and private primary secondary schools to include Media Information including responsible use of the internet in their curriculum.
In seeking the bill’s passage, the lawmaker said the youth should know as early as possible how media and the internet work, as well as how to analyze different information posted online.
Crisologo said his bill seeks to instill critical thinking and checking of facts amid the spread of fake news on the internet.
“In order to protect our Children against abuse and wrong information such as fake news being posted in the internet. We intend to have a more elaborate curriculum on media education to eliminate and to combat the spread of faux informations in the internet,” he said.
