Edwin Olivarez to hand out laptops, tablets for Parañaque students, teachers

Mayor Edwin Olivarez is playing Santa Claus ahead of the start of the new school year. The politiko announced that laptops and tablets worth a total of P300 million will be given away in Parañaque to prepare learners and teachers for the new normal in education.
But it won’t cover everybody: around 7,000 tablets will be given to kinder and grade 1 pupils, while 300 laptops will be given to public school teachers, taken from the government’s special education fund.
“Instead of allocating the tablets to the high school students, the members of our local school board decided to issue the gadget to kinder and Grade 1 pupils. Today, computer will be a formative experience for a kid to learn the best in the world,” Olivarez said.
For the grownups, Olivarez said 16,000 junior and senior high school students can expect a P6,000 allowance for the upcoming school year, or P500 a month.
