Ruffy Biazon wants House to delve into fake Facebook accounts
It’s about time Congress got involved with this cybersecurity issue.
Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon wants the House of Representatives to stage a formal inquiry into the sudden surge in fake accounts copying the names of netizens, especially those critical of the Duterte administration in one weekend.
It’s a hot topic as some feared these accounts can be used against them to eventually tag themselves as terrorists in the context of the Anti-Terrorism bill. The politiko said these duplicate profiles could be used for fraud, identity theft, breach of privacy, harassment, and other crimes.
Yesterday I filed proposed House Resolution No. 968 calling for an inquiry in aid of legislation into the proliferation of Facebook clone accounts which may subject persons to fraud, identity theft, breach of privacy, harassment and other unlawful activities. pic.twitter.com/eKEgBLE7d3
