‘Di nakalimutan allowance: Toby Tiangco to resume distribution of educational aid
The city government of Navotas will resume distribution of financial assistance to close to 400 students on June 8.
Some 383 junior high students from Tanza National High School and Kaunlaran High School will receive P5,000 each.
Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco said some of the funds for the students were already allotted before the COVID-19 pandemic happened.
“Our schools are now accepting enrollees and we expect classes to start in August. We hope the cash assistance will somehow help our students and their families, especially as they adjust to the blended learning approach of our education sector,” he said.
Last year, Navotas installed NavoConnect free wifi in schools and other public areas within the city. Tiangco said students and teachers may use it for online classes.
Those who do not have access to computers or internet will be given NavoSchool in a Box, which will contain modules and activity sheets that will be brought to the learner’s home.
