Vico shuts down barangay hall after Pasig tests COVID positive
A barangay hall in Pasig City has been temporarily closed after a village official tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
“Dahil dito, pansamantala munang pinasara ang barangay hall ng Sto. Tomas para makapag-quarantine ang mga opisyales at empleyado ng barangay,” Mayor Vico Sotto said in a Facebook post.
Sotto said residents who are acquiring a barangay clearance and have other urgent concerns with the office may transact directly with the Office of the City Administrator at the Pasig City Hall.
Those who have “close contacts” with the confirmed Covid-19 case, he said, will undergo PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests to ensure the safety of everyone.
“Higit pa ito sa DOH (Department of Health) protocol, pero gusto nating makasiguro (this is beyond DOH’s protocol, but we wanted to be sure),” he said, noting that there is an ongoing contact tracing to those who have direct interactions with the barangay official.
Sotto reminded residents not to panic, as the local government assured that they are doing precautionary measures to contain Covid-19 in the city and ensuring that everyone will be strictly quarantined and tested.
He also urged his constituents to stay home.
If residents really need to go out of their house premises, he said, they must wear face masks, observe physical distancing, practice proper handwashing and keep healthy at all times. (PNA)
