Tama na toma! Isko Moreno: liquor ban in Manila still in effect

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno threatened to shut down convenience stores selling alcoholic beverages on Tuesday, May 5, amid the implementation of a liquor ban.

Moreno said a liquor ban is still being implemented despite the city’s transition to General Community Quarantine.

Moreno issued an executive order prohibiting the distribution and sale of alcoholic beverages in the nation’s capital amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Hindi natin kailangan ngayon yan. Ang kailangan natin pagkakaisa, payapa’t panatag na komunidad,” he said.

The mayor appealed for the public’s understanding and urged them to use the financial aid to buy basic necessities instead of liquor.
