Pandagdag sa budget: Isko Moreno OKs P1,000 cash aid for poor Manila families
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has approved an ordinance granting P1,000 cash assistance each to more than 500,000 families affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Ordinance No. 8625, also known as the City Amelioration Crisis Assistance Fund, authorizes the allocation of a supplemental budget amounting to P591 million to provide cash assistance to about 568,000 families.
“The amount of P1,000 per beneficiary shall be given to barangay-identified beneficiaries as financial assistance to be distributed in the 896 barangays in the City of Manila to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 crisis and to enable the people of Manila to purchases much needed food and supplies for their survival,” the ordinance read.
Moreno said the distribution of cash aid will start on Tuesday, April 7.
“House-to-house po (ang distribution), wala pong pila. Lahat ng itinala ninyo ay dapat n’yong bigyan isa-isa. Sila ay mag-iisyu ng resibo at acknowledgement receipt,” he said in a Facebook live video.
The mayor said he will go on Facebook every night starting Tuesday to update Manila residents on the distribution of cash aid.
“Ako naman, pakiusap ko, buong kababaang-loob, tulungan n’yo ako. Ako po ay naniniwala sa inyo. Kayo ay mga halal ng bayan. Kailangan na kailangan namin ang tulong ninyo,” he said.
