Walang etsapwera! Lenlen Oreta to endorse all Malabon families for COVID-19 cash aid
Malabon Mayor Lenlen Oreta will endorse all families in the city to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) so they can receive cash assistance to cope with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.
In a statement, Oreta said he has instructed all 21 barangays to update their database of families so he can endorse a master list of all Malabonian families and to avail of the national government’s much-awaited social amelioration package.
“COVID-19 spares no one, rich or poor. Every family deserves aid from the government in these extraordinary times. No one should be left behind,” he said.
Oreta said DSWD sent him a letter informing him that it has only allotted 44,032 slots in the city for the Social Amelioration Program (SAP), which entitles qualified individuals to receive between P5,000 and P8,000.
As of 2015, however, Malabon’s total population stood at 365,525 people, which roughly translates to more than 86,000 families.
