‘Di na palaboy! Homeless finds shelter at QC Memorial Circle
The Quezon City government has provided a temporary home to 38 street dwellers who cannot return to their provinces amid the enhanced community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The homeless individuals were recently transferred to a facility at the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC).
Carol Patalinghog, chief of the Welfare and Relief Division of the city’s Social Services and Development Department (SSDD), said street dwellers were referred by Barangay East Kamias.
“The SSDD has provided all the needs of the occupants like soup kitchen, clean comfort room, partition tents, beds and mobile shower,” she said.
Patalinghog added that the QC Health Department ensures the well-being of the occupants by regularly checking their temperature.
“After the quarantine period, the local government will give proper interventions to each individual, depending on their situation,” she said.
