Iyo Bernardo proposes hazard pay for barangay-based frontliners in COVID-19 crisis
Pasig City Vice Mayor Iyo Bernardo wants barangay-based frontliners in the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis to receive hazard pay for their efforts in preventing the spread of the virus.
Bernardo said he will formalize his proposal on Monday, March 30, before Pasig City Council’s Majority and Minority Floor Leaders and Mayor Vico Sotto.
Under the vice mayor’s proposal, the following barangay-based frontliners are eligible to receive hazard pay: the Barangay Captains, Barangay Kagawads, SK Sanggunian Council, Barangay Secretary, Barangay Treasurer, BSF Ex-Os and Tanods, Barangay Office Staff, Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Emergency Response Teams and front line volunteers.
Bernardo said he also wants city health workers to receive financial assistance.
“Our health workers and barangay-based frontliners are constantly exposed to health risks in the implementation of the quarantine. They deserve all the help and support that the City Government can give them,” he said.
