Bawal pasaway! Toby Tiangco forms task force vs. quarantine violators

Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco has signed an executive order forming a task force to ensure the smooth implementation of the enhanced community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Executive Order No. TMT-022 created Task Force Navotas Drive Against Makukulit, Pasaway o Tambay (NavoDAMPOT).

Tiangco said the task force’s creation was necessary because there are still residents who violate the terms of the quarantine, which in turn endangers the community’s safety.

Duties of Task Force NavoDAMPOT included ensuring that Navotas residents comply with the terms of the enhanced community quarantine, stay home at all times, except under instances allowed under the Home Quarantine Pass (HQP) and those exempted by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

Task Force NavoDAMPOT may also arrest all violators of the enhanced community quarantine and charge the latter with violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code as amended according to the guidelines of the Philippine National Police.

Adult violators may face one to six months imprisonment, with penalty ranging from P2,000 to P100,000.

Minors, who violated the quarantine, will be turned over to their respective parents and guardians with a stern warning that they are subject to civil liability under the Child and Youth Welfare Code.
