Dinaan sa katok! Navotas distributed food packs sans contact with residents

The city government of Navotas has started distributing 18,000 relief packs to residents while observing social distancing.

Representatives from the city hall employed a “katok system” where they knock on the door of a beneficiary’s home, hand one member a claim stub and advise him or her where to get the relief pack.

The distribution team waits for 30 seconds before knocking the next structure to ensure no overcrowding will take place and social distancing is observed.

The food packs contained five kilos of rice and 16 pieces of assorted canned goods.

Priority beneficiaries included informal settler families living in danger zones and residents of the city’s housing projects.

Mayor Toby Tiangco encouraged all Navoteño to strictly follow the rules and regulations of the enhanced community quarantine to prevent the spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Stay home and avoid going out if not for valid reasons. The home quarantine is for your own good and for the safety of your loved ones,” he said.
