Para ‘di na pumasok! Toby Tiangco urges DepEd to pass all students
Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco is urging the Department of Education to automatically pass all students for school year 2019-2020 following the Department of Health’s confirmation of three new coronavirus disease 2019 cases in the country.
Tiangco made the call Saturday, March 7, as he also declared the suspension of classes starting March 9, 2020 for all levels in both public and private schools.
“I urge DepEd to automatically grant passing grades to all students so they do not have to attend classes anymore. We must take all necessary precautions to protect our people, especially our children, from this disease,” he said.
While Tiangco urged the national government to implement proactive measures to help prevent transmission of COVID 19, he said there are no persons under monitoring or investigation for the virus in Navotas.
“Our city remains COVID19-free. We do not have any cases of such disease. However, we must enforce preventive measures to keep our people safe,” the mayor said.
