Baka may mahawa! Muslim prayer hall at Greenhills mall closed down due to COVID-19 case
The Muslim prayer room at Greenhills Shopping Center has been closed down Friday after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that one new victim of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was a frequent visitor to the area.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora ordered the prayer room’s closure after it was sanitized and disinfected by city hall personnel.
The DOH said a 62-year-old man who regularly visited the prayer hall tested positive for COVID-109. He has no history of travel outside the Philippines, making him the country’s first local case.
Zamora said the man was not a resident of San Juan, but was initially confined at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center.
The man has since been transferred to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine after testing positive for COVID-19 on March 5.
