Alan Cayetano asks: Is ABS-CBN franchise urgent for the public or just for media?
Alan Peter Cayetano wondered yet again if ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal is a matter of public concern.
As if online petitions and trending Twitter hashtags weren’t enough, the Speaker asked anew if the bills are “urgent and important.” His excuse for not tackling the hot issue right away: he doesn’t want to do it half-baked, saying he picked up the habit from his dad — the Compañero who was catapulted to fame thanks to his show on Channel 2.
“Sa totoo lang ang dami pang mas importanteng issues na dapat pinag uusapan – VFA, COVID-19, the rehabilitation of Taal and other disaster hit areas, Marawi, the establishment of the Departments of OFW, and Disaster Resilience, the administration’s tax and revenue measures that can potentially bring in millions of new jobs – at wala pa d’yan yung mga pang araw-araw na individual concerns ng bawat Pilipino,” the politiko said.
“Ang tanong ko naman, is this really an urgent public concern, or is it just urgent to the media? And are these things always the same?”
