No room for prostitution: Abby Binay shuts down businesses tagged in sex trade
Makati Mayor Abby Binay has ordered the closure of business establishments allegedly linked to human trafficking and sex trade, in a show of her zero tolerance for prostitution.
Binay tasked the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) to serve the closure orders on the business establishments tagged in prostitution, whether they are done within the premises or online.
“There is no room for prostitution in Makati. We will hunt down prostitution dens, karaoke bars, spas, condominiums and even computer shops that exploit young men and women in the sex trade,” she said.
The mayor said she will make sure entrepreneurs engage in prostitution will be unable to do business in Makati.
Authorities recently raided three karaoke bars over allegations they are engaged in prostitution. The BPLO also closed down three spas supposedly offering “extra service.”
