Bawal na single-use! Parañaque to ban plastics starting June 2020
The local government of Parañaque has announced a ban on single-use plastic in all commercial establishments in the city.
Paranaque’s City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) said in a Facebook post that the ban will take effect in June this year or six months after the publication of City Ordinance no. 18-40.
The ordinance bans the use of single-use plastics in packing dry goods. It also bana rhe use of plastic utensils, as well as styrofoam materials in restaurants.
Parañaque City is following in the footsteps of Quezon City in banning single-use plastics for environmental reasons.
Councilor Joan Villafuerte was the main proponent of the ordinance’s passage in the Parañaque City Council.
