Ruffy Biazon would not take the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s crackdown on Angkas sitting down.

The Muntinlupa congressman promised to have a Congressional inquiry into the issues surrounding motorcycle taxis after Angkas cried foul about some 17,000 riders at risk of losing their jobs by 2020.

“As the public struggles with the mobility crisis that affects their daily life and productivity, this action by LTFRB regarding an option that has proven to be effective & viable will surely impact not just the Angkas riders but the commuters. Will move for an inquiry into this,” Biazon said.

He added that the move makes it look like LTFRB wants Angkas riders to jump ship to two new hailing companies coming in.

“This appears to be a shakedown for the benefit of new entrants. Slash the existing riders of the existing to force them to join the new entrants,” Biazon added.
