SC commended for allowing live coverage of Maguindanao massacre verdict
ACT CIS party-list Rep. Niña Taduran on Tuesday praised the Supreme Court for heeding the plea of media entities to allow the live coverage of the promulgation on the Maguindanao massacre case.
“We have been waiting for this for ten years — for justice to be served. Idinadalangin natin na makakatulong ang anumang magiging hatol ng hukuman upang makahanap ng katahimikan ang 58 kaluluwang biktima sa Ampatuan, Maguindanao,” she said.
Taduran said she believes that the verdict is vital, not only in bringing justice to the victims, but in changing the political and electoral situation in the country marred by violence.
The decision on the Maguindanao massacre case will be made public on December 19 at Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig, with the government-owned station PTV 4 as the main carrying media outlet.
Of the 58 victims in the Nov. 23, 2009 massacre, some 32 were journalists.
