The Philippines lost its chance for a back-to-back crown, but there are other things to be thankful for.

Mandaluyong Councilor Charisse Abalos-Vargas lamented Gazini Ganados’ Top 20 finish in the Miss Universe 2019 pageant, which broke a 10-year trend for Philippine queens finishing in the top 10 or even higher. But it’s all positive thinking for her.

“Shoot! Bawi nalang sa #SEAGames2019
Good luck to the 2019 Miss U! Bet ko South Africa and Thailand!,” Abalos tweeted.

Miss South Africa eventually brought home the new crown. Congratulations!
