Wala nang pugad ng prostitusyon! Abby Binay orders closure of Maxx Hotel
Makati Mayor Abby Binay has ordered the closure of Maxx Hotel in Barangay Poblacion, days after it was raided by authorities over reports of being a prostitution den.
Inspectors from Makati’s Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) served the closure order on the hotel Wednesday for violating Republic Act 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
In a statement, Binay said she ordered the hotel’s closure to “restore order and discipline in Makati, and protect the interest of legitimate businesses, Makatizens and the general public.”
Acting on a tip, the Makati police raided Maxx Hotel on Monday. They rescued 35 alleged sex workers and arrested 21 Chinese during the operation.
The BPLO has closed down 127 business establishments since the start of the year for various violations, including operating without a valid business permit and non-compliance with the National Building Code.
