‘Di na pupunta sa city hall: Isko Moreno signs deal with PayMaya for allowances of seniors, PWDs, solo parents
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with online payment app PayMaya to provide citizen benefits card for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and solo parents.
Under the MOA, PayMaya will issue ID cards to beneficiaries, which they can use to receive their monthly allowances.
With the PayMaya ID card, beneficiaries don’t have to go to Manila City Hall or other government offices anymore.
In addition, beneficiaries can also use other financial services once they link the card to the PayMaya app.
“Walang mayaman, walang middle-class, walang mahirap. Ano ang susi? PayMaya ang susi. Gusto kong ipabatid sa inyo, laway-laway lang ito. Walang tosgas (gastos),” Moreno said during the MOA signing ceremony Tuesday at the city hall.
Starting January next year, senior citizens, PWDs and solo parents are entitled to receive a P500 allowance from the city government of Manila under Ordinance No. 8565.
Beneficiaries must be residents and registered voters of the city to receive the monthly stipends.
For senior citizens, the beneficiary must be included in the masterlist of the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA).
PWDs and solo parents, meanwhile, must be included in the masterlist of the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW).
