Vico Sotto clears out rickety Pasig city hall after quake
The old city hall was at risk of crumbling, so Mayor Vico Sotto ordered everyone out.
Metro Manila was shaken by a magnitude 5.3 earthquake on Friday afternoon, which the government described as a moderate earthquake. Still, the politiko ordered to clear out the building.
“As a safety precaution after the earthquake, we have evacuated City Hall. We need to be extra careful since it is actually due for retrofitting (notice that many of the floors and structures are already uneven),” Sotto said.
The next task is to check every building owned by the local government for structural problems after the tremor.
It’s better to be safe than sorry!
