Music to Manila residents’ ears: Isko Moreno gets PH Philharmonic Orchestra to play for free on Sept. 27
The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra is set to perform for free at the Andres Bonifacio Monument on Sept. 27, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno announced Thursday.
In a press conference, Moreno said he wants all Manila residents to enjoy the orchestra’s performance regardless of their socioeconomic status.
“‘Yung tinatamasa ng mga mayayaman ay tatamasahin na rin ng mga mahihirap. Ito ang ating paraan ng pagpapahalaga ng kultura at sining,” he said.
The concert will be organized by the Manila Tourism and Cultural Affairs Bureau.
Moreno said even he has not watched the orchestra perform live because tickets to their concerts are expensive.
The mayor, however, said the steep price tag for the orchestra’s concerts was justified because their performance is “world class.”
