A lot of her life choices were inspired by the late Compañero.

Returning Senator Pia Cayetano honored her father, the late Sen. Rene Cayetano, to mark his death anniversary on June 25.

The politiko shared photos with the veteran lawmaker on Instagram, as she admitted that most of her career decisions were shaped by her dad, starting from being a volleyball athlete, to being a lawyer then eventually a senator.

“My dad was the reason I went to UP. He was the reason I went to law school and he was my inspiration in deciding to run for public office.
He left us 16 years ago,” she admitted.

She also admitted how hard it was to live without his guidance.

“Adjusting to life without him hasn’t been easy. But I am thankful for the years of memories and lessons that I rely on each day of my life- from raising my kids to serving my country. Love you dad!”

My dad and me after we won the UAAP volleyball championship game vs FEU. Our win brought him much pride. He was one of the few parents that watched our games. He became our pseudo team manager – providing us with refreshments and food. My teammates were always welcomed at home to the point that they still went there even when I had gone to the US to study. Today is his eternal life anniversary . Adjusting to life without him hasn’t been easy.
