They have done it before, why can’t they do it now?

Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon could not understand why Malacañang is refusing to summon Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua to fully explain their take on the ramming incident of a Filipino fishing boat by one of their vessels in Recto Bank.

Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said they didn’t have “jurisdiction” over the envoy, but this politiko is saying something else.

“Summoning an ambassador is well within the rights of host country. China has generously used the summons as a diplomatic tool in its dealings with other states,” Biazon said.

He’s even questioning the pace of Beijing’s investigation: “A competent investigation by the Chinese would have identified by now the captain and crew of the vessel which caused the damage to F/V GemVer 1.”
