It should be the country’s battlecry on Independence Day.

Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon issued his own condemnation for the reported collision of a Chinese and Filipino vessel at the South China Sea. What’s worse is that when the local boat sank, the Pinoy fishermen were left there to drown, according to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana. They managed to survive after a Vietnam vessel came to the rescue.

For Biazon, it’s no accident.

“It’s apparent that the Chinese intentionally abandoned the distressed Pinoy fishermen, contrary to obligations of all mariners under Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). I think that’s reasonable basis to say they intentionally rammed the vessel. Let them explain & justify they didn’t,” he said.

Now here’s his battlecry: “What are we supposed to do with the Independence we’re celebrating today? We’re supposed to stand up for the 22 Filipino fishermen left to die in the waters of the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone by the Chinese who rammed and sank their boat and sailed away.”
