Ex-Manila parks exec pleads guilty over irregular P66M deal with security agency
Former Manila National Parks and Development Committee director Carlito Fajardo has pleaded guilty in the irregular P66.74 million deal with a security agency.
Because of this, the Sandiganbayan 7th Division slapped him with a P30,000 fine after pleading guilty with six counts of violating the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
With this, the anti-graft court also ordered the return of his bail bond and the lifting of the hold departure order against him.
The fine was slapped after Fajardo entered a plea bargaining deal for a lesser offense since he was initially charged with six counts of graft which carried heavier penalties.
“The prosecution manifested to the court that they are not opposing the accused’s change of plea,” the anti-graft court’s resolution read.
The case stemmed from the awarding of the security contact to Variance Protective and Security Agency from 2004 to 2010.
