Ruffy Biazon tells mandatory ROTC critic Sarah Elago: Iniismol mo naman ang kabataan!
Muntinlupa City Rep. Ruffy Biazon believes Kabataan party-list Rep. Sarah Elago is underestimating the youth by saying that undergoing the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program will only teach them blind obedience.
In a tweet posted Tuesday, Biazon said ROTC will only take up a short portion of the students’ time.
“A majority of their time in education will still be dedicated to developing their critical thinking. They are not full time military recruits,” he said.
Biazon, who authored a bill on reviving mandatory ROTC, posted a tweet in response to Elago’s statement that the program will not teach nationalism and discipline.
A bill making ROTC mandatory for senior high school students is pending at the Senate. It has been passed on third and final reading at the House of Representatives.
I think this opinion is an underestimation of the youth. ROTC will only take up a fraction of the students’ time in school. A majority of their time in education will still be dedicated to developing their critical thinking. They are not full time military recruits. https://t.co/9hqJt1b9p8
