Palace asks Cardema to vacate NYC post

Malacañang has ordered National Youth Commissioner (NYC) chairperson Ronald Cardema to vacate his post after he filed a petition for substitution to replace his wife Ducielle Marie Suarez Cardema as the first nominee of Duterte Youth party-list.
“The Palace therefore requires Mr. Cardema to vacate his office forthwith and turn over all official papers, documents, and properties in his possession to the Office of the President,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
In a statement on Sunday, Panelo said the President will soon appoint an individual who can advance the cause and interests of the Filipino youth.
“We understand that Mr. Cardema’s petition has yet to be approved by the (Commission on Elections) as the body is still currently tackling the procedural and substantive legalities of the same,” according to him.
“Regardless of the outcome, we deem that Mr. Cardema has already abandoned his present position because his act of filing the petition absolutely reflects his intention to relinquish his office and exposes his desire to serve the government in a different capacity,” he added.
The Duterte Youth is set to secure at least one seat in the House of Representatives. The pro-administration partylist group placed 21st in the elections for party-list representatives, with 346,314 votes as of 4:21 p.m. today.
