Joy Belmonte proud of QC mayoral run: ‘Di ako pumatol sa black prop!
She has remained classy through the chaotic race.
Mayor-elect Joy Belmonte has succeeded in rising one tier higher in Quezon City, becoming the second Belmonte to lead their hometown. Through it all, Belmonte believes she has had a stellar run, saying that she didn’t have to resort to dirty tactics to get ahead.
“I’m sorry to brag but I am mighty proud of myself. I realise I ran a very dignified campaign. I never succumbed to gutter level politics, to dirty tactics, to character assassination, to fake news and lies,” Belmonte said.
“In the midst of all this, I stuck to platform, performance and “pagkatao’ as my key campaign tools. That’s because winning was always secondary to me. Of primary importance was raising the political maturity of our people and that means getting them used to discussing issues that affect their lives not in destroying my opponent’s character. Kanya kanyang strategy. I chose the high road as God guided me to do.And I am beaming inside.”
Belmonte was caught in a tough race with Rep. Vincent “Bingbong” Crisologo, who was arrested by police in the eve of the elections for alleged involvement in vote buying.
If she sounds too proud, she’s not sorry at all.
