Doon sa sigurado! Joy Belmonte bags Iglesia Ni Cristo’s endorsement
Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte received a huge boost to her mayoralty bid with the endorsement from Iglesia Ni Cristo.
Belmonte welcomed the church’s decision and expressed gratitude for its support.
“This is very, very good news for us, and of course, for Quezon City because we are committed to our promise of giving selfless, top-notch service that will benefit the city’s residents,” she said.
Asked why she believes Iglesia Ni Cristo picked her over other mayoralty bets, Belmonte said she believes the majority of Quezon City’s residents support her.
“We are overwhelmed by the support we have been receiving across all groups in Quezon City, and I think INC shares our vision of wanting the city to keep developing to bring more progress down to the people,” she said.
A recent survey conducted by RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMDinc) from May 4-8 showed Belmonte enjoying a huge lead over her opponents, Rep. Vincent “Bingbong” Crisologo and Ismael “Chuck” Mathay III.
Belmonte remains the top choice for mayor with 65 percent of voters choosing her over Crisologo, who got 30 percent, and Mathay who received 3 percent.
