Libre na ang cremation: Public columbarium set to rise in Makati- Abby Binay
A public columbarium will be constructed in Makati City that will offer free cremation and inurnment services to residents, Mayor Abby Binay announced Thursday.
In a statement, Binay said city engineers, architects and urban planners have already created a site development plan for the public columbarium, which will be built on a 4,000-square meter property along Kalayaan Avenue.
The columbarium will be located near St. Andrew the Apostle Parish Church.
Based on the site development plan, the public columbarium will feature four buildings with three storeys each. Two of the buildings, which will be located in front of the property, will have 3,276 na columbary vaults. Meanwhile, 14,108 urn vaults will be built at the back building.
Aside from free cremation and inurnment services, the public columbarium will feature a viewing area where residents can pay respects to their deceased loved ones before the ashes are put inside a crypt or vault.
