Naka-score na naman! Echiverri cleared in another graft case

Former Caloocan City Mayor Enrico Echiverri has been cleared of another graft case concerning a P16.4 million road and drainage improvement project.

The Sandiganbayan 6th Division has issued a resolution which dismissed the graft case against hum and his co-accused, city accountant Edna Centeno and budget officer Jesusa Garcia.

They were charged with graft over the 2011 contract given to P.B. Grey Construction for road and drainage improvements.

The defendants allegedly pushed through with the project without appropriation and approval from the city council.

However, the anti-graft court pointed out the prosecution failed to present evidence during the trial which would prove their guilt.

“This Court finds no manifest partiality evident bad faith or gross inexcusable negligence on the part of accused Echiverri when he awarded the contract to, and subsequently, entered into a contract with, P.B. Grey, without securing a separate authorization from the Sanggunian (g Panglungsod,” read the ruling which granted the demurrer to evidence of the defendants.
