Wala sanang siraan: Joy Belmonte calls for ‘positive campaigning’
Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte has called for a positive and decent campaigning as the campaign period for local candidates formally kicked off Friday.
Belmonte, who is running for city mayor, acknowledged her wish for a campaign free of negative propaganda may be a long shot. However, she said “miracles do happen.”
“To our voters, what we wish is just to be able to express our platform, have the chance to deliver our programs for the city, and win in an honest and safe election,” she said.
The vice mayor will be running against Rep. Vincent “Bingbong” Crisologo and former Rep. Chuck Mathay for Quezon City’s top post.
Belmonte launched her campaign by joining her own Serbisyo sa Bayan Party (SBP) for a proclamation rally. She was joined by her running mate, Councilor Gian Sotto; her father, Rep. Sonny Belmonte, and Sotto’s father, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
Other guests at SBP’s proclamation rally include several candidates from the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) Senate slate, such as Senators Cynthia Villar, Aquilino Pimentel III, JV Ejercito, and Juan Edgardo Angara; former Senators Jinggoy Estrada, Ramon Revilla Jr., and Pia Cayetano; Maguindanao Rep. Zajid Mangudadatu, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, former national police chief Ronald dela Rosa, former special assistant to the president Christopher Go, former presidential legal adviser Francis Tolentino and former journalist Jiggy Manicad.
