Emergency na ito! State of calamity eyed in Mandaluyong amid water crisis
Several barangay officials in Mandaluyong will recommend the declaration of a state of calamity in the city amid the shortage of water that has affected thousands of residents.
Mandaluyong public information chief Jimmy Isidro told dzMM radio that the barangay officials will submit resolutions of their recommendation to Mayor Menchie Abalos.
The mayor, in turn, will raise the issue with the city council so it can decide.
A state of calamity will allow the local government of Mandaluyong to tap emergency funds.
Various barangays in Mandaluyong have been suffering from little to no water supply since last week.
Despite the emergency, Isidro said the local government cannot purchase additional water tanks due to the election ban on procurement.
