Mahirap malusutan! LRT, MRT ban bottled drinks inside stations
Bottled drinks are now banned inside stations of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) as part of tighter security measures following the bombings in Jolo, Sulu.
The Department of Transportation said in a statement that the ban on bottled drinks is aimed at preventing the entry of dangerous chemicals in plastic bottles, which it said could be used as “liquid bombs.”
“Hence, we encouraged our passengers before entering MRT-3 stations to consume their bottled drinks, otherwise they will not be allowed to set foot in,” the DOTr said.
At least 21 people were killed and over hundred were injured after two bombs exploded within the vicinity of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral in Jolo on January 27.
The National Capital Region Police Office has ordered policemen in Metro Manila to be on full alert to prevent terrorists from carrying out an attack.
