Bad guys pala eh! 4 SM Group companies called out by LLDA for polluting Manila Bay

The Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) has served notices of violation to four offices belonging to the SM Investments Corporation (SM Group) for violating the Clean Water Act and polluting Manila Bay.

LLDA identified the erring offices from the SM Group as the SM Corporate Office inside the Mall of Asia Complex, SM Prime Holdings inside the MOA complex and SM Ferry Terminal, and SM Development Corporation’s Sea Residences.

Aliw Inn and Lola Taba Lolo Pato restaurant at the Seaside commercial comple were also given notices of violation for polluting Manila Bay.

The government is cracking down on business establishments that indiscriminately discharge wastewater to Manila Bay as part of of efforts to rehabilitate the bay.

LLDA general manager Jaime Medina said officials of the erring business establishments will be given a chance to correct their violations. Failure to do so, he said, could lead to the issuance of a cease and desist order.
