Bagong trabaho: Winnie Castelo to chair sub-panel on urban poor housing
Quezon City Rep. Winnie Castelo will have a new task to accomplish before Congress goes on break on February 8 as he has been named the chairman of a House sub-committee that will tackle housing problems of the urban poor.
Castelo was given the new job after House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo announced the reconstitution of the Congressional Oversight Panel for Urban Poor Housing, during a visit to Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City this week.
The oversight panel is mandated under Republic Act No. 9207 (RA 9207) or the National Government Center Housing and Land Utilization Act of 2003.
The oversight committee will conduct its first hearing on January 21.
In a statement, Castelo said the formation of the oversight committee will give lawmakers a chance to address issues related to public housing.
“We welcome this opportunity to solve other issues and concerns so that, finally, our constituents will be secure in their very own lands and homes,” he said.
