Idol si Catriona? Pia Cayetano wears Yakan woven fabric
Suddenly, wearing tribal clothing is in.
Former Senator turned Taguig Rep. Pia Cayetano was visiting Zamboanga City when she decided to take a side trip to the Yakan Village, where she was lucky to see local weavers in action.
The politiko eagerly sat on the floor and watched this tribal woman weave the cloth in front of her, amazed by the craftsmanship and intricacy of the patterns.
“It was a very zen experience sitting at the loom and threading the different colored thread in and out,” Cayetano said, baring that she has long been a fan of indigenous clothing.

I’m such a fan of indigenous woven fabric so it was a delight to visit the Yakan Village in Zamboanga City and learn from a woman who was taught when she was seven and has been weaving ever since. It was a very zen experience sitting at the loom and threading the different colored thread in and out.
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray would be proud!
