Rex Gatchalian orders flags in Valenzuela at half-mast for Roberto Anselmo on Jan. 10

Valenzuela City mayor Rex Gatchalian has ordered that Philippine flags in the city be flown at half-mast on Friday, January 10, in honor of the late councilor Roberto Anselmo.

In Executive Order 2019-001, Gatchalian said flying the Philippine flag at half-mast is a way of honoring and recognizing Anselmo’s “exemplary service” to Valenzuela.

The gesture, the mayor said, is in accordance with Republic Act 8491 which states that the Philippine flag can be flown at half-mast on the day of a local government official’s interment.

Anselmo died on January 6 at the age of 102. He will be interred on Friday.

The late politiko was a member of the city council from 1964 to 1971.
