Eleazar dismisses holiday bomb threat in Metro Manila as a hoax
National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Guillermo Eleazar has belied reports that an extremist group from Mindanao will bomb a place of worship in Metro Manila over the holidays.
“Wala naman talaga tayong confirmed information sa mga threat,” Eleazar told ABS-CBN News Saturday (December 22).
He said police presence has been increased in crowded areas this Christmas to ensure the security of people who will go out for celebrations.
“Kung may nakakasalamuha silang mga kahinahinalang tao, ito ay ipagbigay-alam sa atin upang ito’y ating mapag-aralan at maimbestigahan,” he said.
Citing a “classified information report,” some social media posts claim that an extremist group based in Lanao Del Sur will bomb places of worship in Manila, including churches in Baclaran and Quiapo, over the holidays.
