After Ateneo video, Charisse Abalos wants review of anti-bullying laws

This should trigger a review of policies to combat violence.

Mandaluyong Councilor Charisse Abalos-Vargas was quick to weigh in on the bullying incident involving minor students in the Ateneo de Manila University, where a boy went to mug a classmate in the boys’ bathroom.

The politiko was quick to condemn the act as she called for a review of current rules and laws to prevent bullying.

“It’s about time we review how our Anti-Bullying laws are being enforced. Children deserve to feel safe in all spaces. Especially in the very establishment that’s meant to be their ‘second home’,” Abalos said.

Apart from sanctioning the student, authorities need to ensure that the incident would never happen again.
